Tina Sena: Esotericana

Our contributor Tina Sena's current column over at Binnall of America:How To Make The Perfect Paranormal TV Show
In An Imperfect Normal World.
Tina discusses paranormal programming, and has a proposal:
Which is why I propose that Syfy, National Geographic and the History Channel (and others like BRAVO, etc.,.) seriously consider doing a paranormal show with a mostly, if not all, female cast. And I'm not talking about your average formulaic paranormal show. It has to be something that's never been done before: A show for women, with women and about women from different professional backgrounds, investigating the oldest, weirdest, most paranormally significant places on Earth.

I'm for that! One of my dreams is to start my own paranormal UFO network. Hmmm...

A few years ago, I think on the Lifetime channel, there was a show about female abductees. Had a cheesy title, something like "I was abducted by aliens!" but it wasn't bad, despite the shaky camera stuff.

Reverse Speech

I was just thinking about Oates and the subject of reverse speech; how Oates used to be on C2C all the time, and the whole area of reverse speech. I think Oates and Art Bell, maybe it was another C2C host, had a falling out some time ago. I don't think Oates has been on C2C for some time. Anyway, have been thinking about this fascinating topic lately for some reason, and how, in my opinion, it's still ignored. In a bit of synchronicity, I find this link on Rense.com, linking to an interview with Oates and Rense about reversals regarding ET. (Years ago the two major competing AM stations in Eugene carried, respectively, C2C and Rense at the same time. The station carrying Rense dropped him; thankfully I still get my Fortean fix from KPNW in Eugene, which carries C2C, even though, unfortunately, they air the show beginning with the second hour, because we all know how important and wise Lars Larson is, which precedes C2C in our area.)

Some of you know what I think about Rense, but he's just the vehicle.  Still an interesting segment.

Must Be a Slow News Day for Mad Makow

James Rich, Beside Herself, acrylic on canvas

This is so old school Women's Studies 101; Henry Makow ("Mad" Makow I call him) has reposted his paranoid rant from 2001: savethemales.ca - "Vagina Monologues" - Porn Play Debased Women. Makow is, as always, hyperbolic in his infinite campaign against feminism, gays, the Illuminati/Satanists, and Jews. They're all in it together, don't you know.

One of Makow's many surrealistic opinions on what women are really about is that once feminists discover the truth about the evil agenda that lives within, these women are doomed. Doomed! Because all that's left for these women is to become gay:

"The Vagina Monologues" presents a sad picture of life at the dead-end of feminism. It is an anguished cry for male love by a generation of women deceived by feminism, who now have no choice but to become lesbians.
Something about the play has Makow worked up, for he uses the word "steamy" twice in his denouncement:
the play provides a steamy experience of sexual intimacy.
"The Vagina Monologues" quickly becomes a steamy chronicle of lesbian sex
Parsing the twilight language in Makow's writing is always fun; I'm sure his use of the word "flavor" in the following is inadvertent but it made me laugh:
Forgive me for what follows but I am trying to convey the pornographic flavor of this so-called play.
Makow writes that "fixation" on one's genitals is "pure homosexuality." I'm serious here, is anyone out there listening to this fool?  Sadly, and more to the point, frighteningly, the answer is yes. Of course Makow's a clown, but what's scary is that there are plenty of both men and women who follow his misogynistic philosophies and those people are very serious. Furthermore, his biggest fan seems to be Jeff Rense, who happily posts links to Makow's current articles on a regular basis.

I wondered how long it would take Makow to get into the world domination by evil feminist-Jew-lesbians via their Illuminati ways shtick. No matter what the topic of his rants are -- it could be recipes for jello salad or whatever -- he brings it all around to the insidious plots to rule teh wolrd by lesbian-jew-feminists.
Even though the subject of Makow's current piece is The Vagina Monologues, he goes from theater critic to paranoid goof ball. Well, he was a paranoid goof ball to begin with, but anyway. He segues into a brief section titled Illuminati Brainwashing, where he once again equates self-empowerment and being educated about one's body to having a "hatred of hetrosexuality." Next section: Agitprop, where Makow discusses the "tactics" used by Communists, which, don't ya know, are also used by the evil pinko-jew-lesbian-feminist cabal:
We must face the fact that feminism is a homosexual movement in deadly competition with heterosexuality. It is part of a wider covert war aimed at subverting Western civilization and enslaving society.
Mrs. June Cleaver (Barbara Billingsley) in her kitchen
As I mentioned earlier, the comments left on Makow's site are disturbing. Makow may be a fruitcake: old, stale, and moldy, left far too long on a crusty
contact-papered shelf in June Cleaver's kitchen, but I can't ignore the fact that there are those that take Makow seriously. One comment left by "Phil" puts the The Vagina Monologues in the same category as torture and war:
Dr. Makow – thanks for your expose of this popular pornographic play. It is a sign of a very sick culture that things like this are so easily accepted by society these days, along with torture as official policy, pre-emptive wars, and the slaughter of innocents.
I can't speak to the play itself as a play, since I've never seen the play, only having seen various scenes throughout the years. Something about the play always struck me as, while empowering and all that good stuff, as also kind of do-gooder upper middle class bourgeoisie tripe.  But regardless of if I've seen the play or not, it's clear Makow's issues with the play are with women taking control of their own bodies and educating themselves. Finding offense at basic sexuality is such a sad yet ridiculous response to have in these times, (any times) and then equating that with the downfall of society while ignoring the real stuff -- you know, like the world literally cracking open --  is truly bizarro. So, in that context, one question among many questions, is why does Jeff Rense insist on promoting Henry Makow?

Fortean Sexuality: "I Married a Lesbian"

When I saw this link on Rense.com: "I Married a Lesbian," I just knew it was from Henry ("Mad") Makow. I clicked over, and sure enough, toots, I was right! The article isn't by old Henry himself, it's written by Dan Abshear, but Henry has given the piece his A-okay.

There are soooooooo many things wrong, (and yet, sadly hysterically funny even if the latter is unwittingly so) with this article, beginning with the title of course. Then the sexist comment about the "...extremely rare and hard-to-find image of lesbians who aren't extremely hot." Implying of course that, well, lesbianism is kind of okay as long as the women are "hot" and getting off the severely fucked up hetro males viewing such images.

Oh, and then there's this:
She and I are 4th cousins as well.

She became "interested" in him when he was 21 -- how old was she? They're fourth cousins. They met when he was 14 . . . anyway, they marry, and he quickly wonders why his wife is "unresponsive" to him. Sex is not the thrill it  should be. So instead of asking her why she finds him repugnant he begins a program of self-improvement:
She was sexually impotent with me, and this puzzled me. So, I began to exercise very aggressively and intensely. This would include such activities as weightlifting and long distance bicycling.

While rather puny when I got married, I developed into quite a attractive and sturdy young man. This was all to please my wife and gain her affection. I improved my diet and continued these exercise habits until the age of 40.

Since this didn't increase her intimacy toward me, I began to wonder if she wanted me to make more money. The first six or so years of our marriage, I barely made more than minimum wage. We were very poor, and in debt.

And so on, him trying to find ways to make his wife sexually and emotionally responsive. No where does he write if he tried talking to her about these intimate issues.

Things go along for twenty years, including having a child, and hubby insists his wife seek therapy, which she does. Alarmingly, her psychiatrist breaks the rules of ethics and confidentially and tells him that:
... I visited the same psychiatrist. He told me that my wife was in fact a lesbian, and that it would destroy me in time if I did not divorce her.

Here's a huge WTF moment:
Interestingly, our sex life actually improved a great deal. It appears that my knowing she was a lesbian may have given her some freedom.

And yet, the marriage fails, because, among other things, she "falsely" accused him of domestic violence. So the lesbian wife, er, ex-wife, moves out. Not, however, with her female lover, but:
And my ex wife has yet to disclose to anyone that she is a lesbian. She continues to live this lie. My ex wife presently has a boyfriend in order to continue the concealment. ..

I'm not sure what the point is, other than it appeared on Henry Makow's site, which is notoriously misogynist and homophobic, and such lurid stupidity reigns.

As usual, the majority of comments left at the end of the article are as scary as the rest of what gets thrown up there. Like this philosophical sharing from "Marcos":
One thing every man should know is that you never, never satisfy a woman by appeasement...

As Americans say, she is sh*t testing you, to check if you are really worth her relinquishing sexually to you. The answer is to show strength and dominance, and never the contrary, trying to please her, to be "nice" which is what most men do. This will only make the woman despise your weakness even more. . .

Understand that this unconscious, biological. Women need to be certain that they've got the best men her looks can "buy". If she feels irritated, frustrated around you (and still you are a good guy), she has doubts about her choice. When you assert your dominance, those doubts are gone. As Henry says, women need to relinquish power to the man, but only to those she admires. Women are hypergamous, i.e., they always go for the alpha male, for the powerful man. You must assure that you are this man.

Marcos left a link to his blog. Oh dear fucking god. Here it is, if you dare: Citizen Renegade.

Ida Craddock: 'Sexual Outlaw, Erotic Mystic'

Reviews of: Vere Chappell's Sexual Outlaw, Erotic Mystic: The Essential Ida Craddock.

A skeptic view (fantasy prone, sexual abuse, etc.) on the following but still interesting: THE MAGONIA BLOG: Sexual Outlaw, on the story Ida Craddock. Craddock (1857-1902) was a sexologist, who learned about sexual pleasures from 'Soph' a ghost. Parallels to Mary, to contactees, succubi and incubus, and to all those sexual-supernatural unions are obvious. I haven't read the book; I'm not familiar with Craddock  but I'm looking forward to reading this book.

I notice that the forward is written by Tarot author and scholar Mary K. Greer.

Craddock was the victim of her times; the moral setting she lived in would have put her in prison for her attitudes, (she was the target of "Anthony Comstock and his Society for the Suppression of Vice . . ." according to this review on Vere Chappell's bio page. Instead, she committed suicide.

Sex of The Fourth Kind: Alien-Human Sex Studies: | UFO Digest provides video proof of ufos, alien abduction and the paranormal.

From Paul Schroeder for UFO Digest, the following article on sex and aliens:Sex of The Fourth Kind: Alien-Human Sex Studies:
Part of the understanding of the interaction between alien and humans on Earth is not just in understanding alien tactics and underlying alien motives.
It is of a sexual nature.
The astounding answer in part begins with the realization that we are, by nature, beyond our awareness and general understanding, inter dimensional beings.
We contain and exude both a physical energy and a spiritual energy.
As some of our psychic "energy" extends into other dimensions, these energies can be seen and regularly utilized by dark entities.
Reptilian/grey aliens the pilots of UFOs, demons, and other dark astral wildlife, frequent this dark dimension.

Sex of The Fourth Kind: Alien-Human Sex Studies: | UFO Digest provides video proof of ufos, alien abduction and the paranormal.

Idea is, entities/aliens=demons, who are feeding off us sexually... really a not unfamiliar theme in esoterica, and lore has a wealth of stories of succibi and incubus. Are those really aliens, or descriptions of energies religious people call "demons" (non-ET, but non-human entities just the same).

And in a somewhat related post: my entry on UFO Mary about "demonic possession" via sexual activity, as well as the general insanity of Henry Makow's website.

Emma Woods and David Jacobs

In February, Paratopia hosts Jeremy Vaeni and Jeff Ritzman aired tapes of conversations with Emma Woods and Dr. David Jacobs. Woods is an abductee, and was a client of Jacobs, undergoing numerous hypnotic sessions.

There is much to say here, starting with the important reminder to us all that we weren't there, we don't know these individuals, etc. Having said that, after listening to the Vaeni/Ritzman program --- wow. Jacobs does not come across well, and I'm surprised at the lack of UFO blog/researcher comments on this.

Deirdre, of Interstellar Housewife, and a contributor here at WOE, did write a post about this a while ago. You can also visit Paratopia's site and message forum for more. And, of course, there is Emma Woods herself: Emma Woods: Is it Alien Abduction...?

A.M. Murphy: New BOA Contributer

Tim Binnall's Binnall of America has a new writer: A.M. Murphy, who has a great first article for her "Not Always So" column. In her first column -- Perilous Objects and Ghostly Handprints:
Women in Esoterica
-- Murphy discusses women in esoteric research. While it's obvious that women have always been in the background of UFO, paranormal and Fortean studies, a subtle contradiction is at work. Women have always been firmly entrenched in esoterica; some could say the anima is of that world, hence, the on-going war from the male view against the "divine feminine." Murphy writes:
Women are still not well-represented among UFOlogists or cryptozoologists, but our leadership in the esoteric field literally goes back to prehistory. We belong here.

Graham Hancock writes about female handprints that appear in shamanic cave art from 30,000 years ago, at the very dawn of human consciousness. In the caves at Delphi, generations of female oracles are believed to have squatted over a rift in the rock, inhaling hallucinatory gases that wafted up from the belly of the earth. The Delphic oracles were routinely consulted by heads of state, as was a Biblical prophetess named Deborah who literally led 10,000 men to victory in battle.

Murphy goes on to cite more examples, following a history beginning with cave paintings to the present, along with the still very much present intent of many cultures and religions to virtually annihilate the feminine within the esoteric.

Spiders and Owls: Women's Exclusion From Bohemian Grove

I recently commented in a post for my blog Octopus Confessional on Alex Shoumatoff’s excellent article, Bohemian Tragedy, in the May issue of Vanity Fair. Shoumatoff’s article reveals the secrecy and greed of Grove members who are involved in “forest management” and “fire prevention” techniques by harvesting the redwoods in the Grove. Their cutting of the redwoods and other trees affects more than just private areas in a closely guarded compound; the aftermath affects entire eco-systems, within and without the Grove, including water systems and marine life.

Regarding the effects of these practices on the rest of us I wrote:
The Grove's arrogance, power and disregard has affected not just themselves in their inner circle, but the outside world as well; the peasants, us, the no accounts, yes, the measly proletariat. The issue of salmon is a huge one; affecting far more than the meal on our dinner plates; it affects the environment as well as economy in many ways. The Grove calls all this harvesting "forest management" but there's far more to this than simple "fire prevention" tactics, as Shoumatoff adeptly reveals.

The elitism, arrogance and power that is the foundation of Bohemian Grove is highly secretive, extremely protective of itself, and clings to these traits with rigorous tenacity. (Shoumatoff, a journalist, was kicked out of the Grove for trespassing -- the legality of his treatment is in question. Shoumatoff takes part in an ironic history: The Bohemian Grove was founded by journalists in the late 1800s; today however journalists are banned from becoming members and are considered enemies of Grovers.)

Men -- mainly white, Protestant men; few Jews or blacks, for example, have been members. As Shoumatoff writes:
They see themselves as the moral underpinnings of America’s greatness, whose central tenets are the Protestant work ethic: work hard and prosper and you’ll get into that great club in the sky. The Bohemian Club is like the Opus Dei of the Protestant American establishment. Very few Jews have made it in, and even fewer blacks.

The excluded include women, there are no women members. This shouldn’t be surprising, given the purpose of the Grove, which is to maintain power among the corporate-government complex. Herbert Hoover called the yearly meeting of fellow power elites “the greatest men’s party on Earth.” Sociology Professor Peter Philliips at Sonoma State, has said “This is a place men can go and hang out with people who are similar to them." (Unclear if he is a member; I believe he is but not sure. However, he is an apologist for the Grove.) There have been a few “honorary” female members, as well as female guests, but these women are restricted as to access and privilege. They’re allowed to visit during the day, but cannot go into buildings except the City Club, and there they are kept to the downstairs. Access to the other camps on the 2,700 acre property is prohibited. Women guests, for example, spouses, sometimes visit, such as on the annual “Ladies Hi-jinks” night.

In 1979 the Grove was sued by California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing but the Grove won. Judge Robert Kendall ruled that since men at the Grove “urinate in the open” the inclusion of women would “alter” the men’s behavior in a negative way. Pissing against trees seems to be part of the undercurrent of ritualistic behavior of Grove members. Shoumatoff makes reference to this penchant for tree pissing:
Another hallmark of the encampment is the promiscuous micturition—guys standing up to the redwoods and relieving themselves everywhere you look. Maybe they’re trying to symbolically assert their primacy over nature. But the amount of drinking that goes on, plus the fact that many members are elderly and likely have prostate problems and can’t make it back to their camp fast enough, also plays a role in what has become, if not a formal ritual, a group-reinforcing collective activity.

But back to women. While women aren’t powerful or rich enough to become members of the Grove, they are useful enough to work for the Grove. In 1981 the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, ruled that the Bohemian Grove had to start hiring women; the Grove appealed to the California Supreme Court and lost. Female employees of the Grove are restricted however; working only in a few select areas or “camps.” Presumably this excludes the rumors of prostitutes who are said to be present in the Grove during gatherings.

None of this is surprising; what else to expect from the industrial-global-banker-entertainment elite? Yet the Grove isn’t all just doddering old white men who piss against Redwoods and other plant life due mainly to alcoholic gluttony and enlarged prostates; it’s also the Fortean irony of members like ex-Grateful Dead musicians. And while women are not allowed in, is it any kind of victory if women were to become equal partners in weirdly goofy yet somber occult tinged rituals in the dead of night? It’s no comfort to me to know that there are women of power and wealth, in positions where global policies are made and implemented, that keep the rest of us hoi poli in our place, while they revel in the Grove. Those sisters would also exclude. We’d have a grove full of Margaret Thatchers; no appeasement there.

Another tidbit of irony comes to us by way of the Grove’s motto: “Weaving spiders come not here' (see note at end of article) meaning, leave your cares behind, all you big powerful men you. Rituals invoking this intent are performed at the Grove; the "Cremation of Care" ritual symbolically burns away the burdens of the outside world. It's tough being a member of the powers that be.

The reality is that policies and plans are put into place during these gatherings, and serious papers are presented on a variety of subjects affecting the world. For example, a list of topics presented at one Grove gathering are listed in a 2003 article by sociologist Peter Phillips for Counterpunch:
Additionally, there were daily lectures from world-class experts on global warming, war policy, school vouchers, mad deer disease, horse racing, stem cell research, terrorism, American-Russian relations, and marine ecosystem.

The paranoiac inclined Fortean can easily see the esoteric connections between those subjects.

The Grove’s two symbols, the Owl and the Spider, are both symbols of female wisdom. The Roman goddess Minerva is accompanied by an owl symbolizing the wisdom Minerva brings to the world. However, many, from the paranoid Christian anti-occultists to the unconsciously misogynist, the owl is the symbol of Lilith, which for many, represents Satan. This view ignores a more divine feminine perspective of Lilith. Regarding Spider, some Native American traditions “Grandmother Spider” weaves wisdom, bringing knowledge to others; but more importantly, Grandmother Spider is the creator! Women with Spider energy are powerful indeed.

Meanwhile, as cliché and basic Women’s Studies 101 it may sound, the fact is the men that are in power and come together at Bohemian Grove think little enough of women to include them in any meaningful -- powerful enough -- way. They’re useful, as servants, be they cooks, maids, clerks, hookers or wives of members but there their usefulness ends. In the Grove, what few women there are operate in a passive state, either as infrequent guests, or employees at the lowest rungs.

There are plenty of reasons to continue to rail against the Bohemian Grove meetings; for the above reasons, for the occult underpinnings, for their rape of the environment, to be a squeaky wheel. Take your pick.

Makow's Views on Domestic Violence

Usually Henry Makow is fodder for fun rants and one huge “Can you fucking believe this shit???!!!! Ha ha ha.”

Not this time. His blitherings in his latest pathological spewing: Domestic Violence Hysteria Is Political is both dangerous and irresponsible, which is an understatement.

And what does any of this have to do with para-politics, esoterica, the paranormal, Fortean subjects and UFOs? Well, aside from Makow being a crazy self-hating Jew misogynist, he’s in the Illuminati, NWO, Reptilians are Ruling the World conspiracy camp. Sort of like an unhip, woman hating David Icke.

All the whining about domestic violence is, according to Makow, the fault of evil lesbian Jewish feminists, who started the whole thing.

Men are victims of domestic violence too, and since this isn’t addressed to the extent the violence against women and children is, it’s a nasty plot by the above mentioned to:
stigmatize men and marriage in the eyes of young women. They want young women to Eat at Lesbian Jill's or Single Jane's but definitely not at Joe's.

(er, the visual metaphor tells us a lot about Makow’s paranoia, doesn’t it? Good grief! What must go on in that head of his.)

The crudest of examples is used here; Makow implies that feminists are all ugly, and women who dare to bring the issue of domestic violence to the public arena are unable to get a man. The evil powers that be -- the Illuminati Evil Jew Lesbians -- know this, and:
used feminism to harness the political power of women who couldn't get a date Saturday night.

All this bankrolled by the Rockerfellers of course.

Makow isn’t for domestic violence. He says so.:
I do not condone domestic violence of any kind. But I resent that this problem is exploited for an evil political goal: to destroy marriage and family and so render us more vulnerable to totalitarian control
.

Okay, so let me see; he doesn’t condone it, but he “resents that” it’s a “problem exploited for an evil political goal.” Which is to “destroy marriage and family.” In other words: shut up, don’t talk about the domestic violence in your family, don’t be an activist to change laws and hold the batterers accountable. You know, stop being such a whiny bitch. After all, the family is the important thing, marriage is sacred. Minor hassles like ending up in the emergency room now and then are nothing.

Besides being a misogynist, Makow is homophobic. To support his belief that homosexuality should be banned, and that they’re all going to hell, he talks about domestic violence within gay relationships as being twice that of heterosexual couples.

We don’t hear of this because the “social engineers” (you know, Jew Lesbo Commies) want to paint homosexuals as nothing but rosy happy people:
Homosexuality is the inability to form a permanent bond with a member of the opposite sex due to gender identity confusion. The goal of social engineers is to spread this developmental disorder that results in arrested development
.

And hey, we cant’ forget this:
Also, social engineers want homosexuals to have the glamor of being "victims" of straight violence.

Women’s shelters are to be avoided, for they’re run by “hags” who count on their jobs at these places for “cushy jobs and to emasculate men (by portraying them as abusers.)”

All of this is a satanic plan not just to end heterosexual marriage, but to bring in the New World Order with ease.

Oy.

Why do I "pick on" Makow? You mean aside from the painfully obvious? Because, believe it or not, there are many out there who take this man very seriously. Men and women. And that's a hell of a lot scarier than any Reptilian.

Sexism in Bigfoot Research and Esoterica

Okay, it's time. From personal experience, I will say that some men have a huge problem with women in general. And so when they find women in the fields of esoterica, they quickly show themselves for what they are: stupid sexist pigs. Simple.

It is sexist when a man posts that a woman should spread eagle herself, naked, on an altar (though he spelled it alter) and wait to be raped.

It is ridiculously sexist to stoop so low and call a woman a "man hater" when in disagreement over esoteric theory.

It is equally ridiculous to call someone a "lesbian" as if: that's an insult in the first place, and, two, that one's sexual preference has anything to do with UFO or other esoteric research.

It is sexist when a man posts images of crude illustrations that depict women as ugly when referring to a specific female researcher. Looks have nothing to do with anything -- this is so f****** obvious it irritates me that I even have to address it. (Look how many men out there who aren't, well, let's say Johnny Depp has no worries) but the point is, who cares what someone looks like?

All those things, and so much more have happened to me. (And still happens.I'm sure many women experience this, they just don't discuss it.)

It is sexist when male researchers call female researchers -- who've been in the field longer than they -- call them silly names, as if they're back in middle school, exclude them from the dialogue, or make veiled sexist comments about their mental health. ("Hysterical female.")

And it's sexist when a woman is attacked for her personal, sexual life, as is the case with Melissa Hovey, Bigfoot researcher. Her morals are in question, her personal sexual life is in question, and she has been attacked by some Bigfoot researchers for what she chooses to do, as a free adult in this society, concerning her sexual -- and private -- life. You can read about Melissa's recent experiences on her blog Bigfoot Research.

Yes, sexism exists, and these are some of the ways the sexism manifests itself.
