Joan Bird has always been interested in the big questions: Who are we? Why are we here?
She uses a combination of science and spirituality to search for answers. In the introduction to her new book, she writes: “So I have a critical mind with a great respect for knowledge and scientific method. And I am comfortable with the fact that there are some things that science just can’t explain, at least not yet. Perhaps that is why I have always had an interest in those pieces of information that don’t quite fit into the dominant worldview.”
Bird has a Ph.D. in zoology and she’s a longtime member of the Institute of Noetic Sciences. She’s worked as a conservation biologist for the Montana Environmental Information Center, The Nature Conservancy and Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
A bit of synchronicity; I had just posted the item below about the Skinwalker ranch and portals, and was thinking I should mentioned Red Gate, Montana as one of those portals. I ended up not mentioning it, but saw this link on Lesley's blog a few moments later.
Red Gate is the area investigated some time ago by researcher Jim Marrs.

Politics and entertainment (I know, what's the difference) merged when Vice President Joe Biden appeared on the Jay Leno show. Biden joined Leno in a comedy sketch and later, they discussed the busted Russian spy ring. Leno showed a photo of one of the alleged spies, Anna Chapman, who's been described as "sultry" by every talking head and newspaper it seems. Leno showed a photo of alleged spy Chapman and asked: "Do we have any spies that hot?" to which Biden, a frustrated comedian, said: "Let me be clear. It was not my idea to send her back."
One element I could have added but didn't think of: the new movie SALT, with Angelina Jolie. I haven't seen the movie but here is another example of a "sultry" sexy female spy and a Russian connection. Is Jolie's character a good spy or a bad (Russian) spy?
Things are not what they seem in these culture episodes; politicians as thwarted comedians, Russian spies as citizens, Russian lovers/actresses/entertainers, betrayals, non-Russians appearing as Russians . . . is the culture missing the Cold War?
I consolidated and slightly altered a few posts that I entered earlier today at my blogs UFO Mary and Octopus Confessional. The past month or so the world has been witness to some unusual events; signs in the sky, attempts at toppling authorities, and the implementation of control and fear from the infrastructure, who, I suspect, are responsible for such seemingly disconnected events.
Red Hooded Woman and Nigerian Bomber
A strange incident, that seems odder still when juxtaposed with other odd events this holiday season; the attempted bombing of Northwest Flight 253 in particular.
Both incidents served to grab international attention during a time when many of us are vulnerable emotionally and spiritually; we're amped up at this time of year on many levels. Add to this mix international travel; people dependent on the whims and fates of weather, airport security, government, flight arrivals and cancellations. . .
The Pope, during the Christmas Day blessing, was attacked by a young woman in a red hooded sweatshirt. The woman had climbed over a barrier and managed to pull the Pope to the ground; however, the Pope was unharmed. Reports say the woman was mentally unstable. Interesting for the above reasons but also in context of the attack two weeks earlier on the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Berlusconi's attacker, it's been reported, also has mental problems.
One of the things to emerge from these incidents -- the bombing attempt, the attacks on the Pope and Silvio Berlusconi -- is the reminder from authority of the need for tighter security. Homeland Security was lightening quick in its announcements for newer, stricter security edicts, which have already been put in place. Along with these even more restrictive rules is the urging of Homeland Security for the use of body scanners in airports.
As to the failed bombing attempt by Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, there's further support for the sleeper agent scenario: Abdulmutallab told authorities "operatives" in Yeman gave him the explosives. The US attacked Yemen on December 19th.
Whether intentionally planned by the Global Cabal (you know, "Them,") or the Trickster in our face, there are esoteric elements all over these events. Two mentally unstable people, a woman in her twenties wearing a hood that's red, (Christmas color, blood, sacrifice, wanton woman,) the inept would be airplane bomber from Nigeria, (the Nigerian e-mail spam scams,) Christmas Day, (world peace, love, goodwill to men, religion. . . ) the Pope, (authority, religion, spiritual control, sexual control, Nazis,) the Vatican,(more control and authority infrastructure, hidden treasures and secrets, power, global presence) and Kafka-esqe rules that are, we're told,to keep us safe, but really serve to humiliate and control.
These incidents seem unconnected and maybe they are; but they all happened on the global stage, during a time of global sharing and unity, and where travel is at its highest on a world wide level. Institutions were attacked: the Pope/Vatican, (and two weeks previously, Italy's PM, another authority) and an airline, directly involving Homeland Security.
Hundreds, if not thousands, have been lining up for hours every night at the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in a Cairo neighborhood just off the Nile. Many of them claim that a mysterious light hovering above the church's domes is an apparition of the Virgin Mary who will bring Christian Copts prosperity and relief in a time of national and religious struggle.
The crowds began appearing Thursday evening when a number of residents spotted a flickering light. No one was sure where the illumination was coming from, and word quickly spread that the light took the shape of the Virgin Mary wearing a blue gown and standing in the sky between the church's two high crosses.

The image shown reminded me of the BVM's appearence, which the article mentions, in Zeitun, Egypt, from 1968 to 1971. Similar white, cut-out type figure, and pigeons. Pigeons are mentioned in the recent BVM apparition as well:
The scene on Saturday was huge when we saw the lightning and white pigeons flying around us. White pigeons always accompany apparitions like these," one Copt told The Times.
Watching the clip shown here, an orange light can be seen flickering off towards the end of the clip, as if the image of Mary was being projected from that source.
Coming in on the heels of other recent weirdness in the world, this BVM apparition doesn't seem to be a paranormal event, but part of this staging on a global level. Signs in the skies: UFOs for the saucer heads (Kremlin, etc.) blue spirals in Norway for the skeptics and rational, the BVM for the religious. And to keep us on our toes, failed Nigerian bombers and attacks on Italian authorities; the Pope, again performed for the religious, the Prime Minister for the rest of us.
Control, fear and wonder all at once. All are distractions, seemingly without connection to each other. Year end strangeness; it appears to be a bit much.
Red Hooded Woman Synchronicity
After I had posted these entries, I watched the movie Inkheart after dinner. I had a jolting moment of synchronicity when, during the opening scene, where the character is reading to his daughter, a red cape and hood float down from the sky and fly about, landing outside their window.
Some odd things in my town surrounding the swine flu scenario; first case (s) of swine flu reported in Oregon, local elementary school had roughly 1/5 of its population either call in sick, or go home sick, with a stomach ailment yet it was not, insists authorities, swine flu or food poisoning. All that, and a sudden, localized freak tornado -- also at a school -- levitating an adult. Read about it on my crustacean conspiracy blog Octopus Confessional.
Vintage children's books -- vintage being anything printed before 1985 -- are now illegal. You can't sell them, Goodwills and libraries, etc. are urged to remove these books from their shelves, and sellers of vintage books, on-line and not, are also urged to stop selling their books.
Some places have gone so far as to burn these books, others have put them in storage, and others, in acts of civil disobedience, ignore this new law. (The law was passed in January of this year.) Others however are paranoid and have stopped dealing with vintage books altogether. There seems to be a loophole; that you can deal in the children's books as long as they're listed as collectibles and sold to collectors -- adult collectors -- of children's vintage literature.
The reason for this law? Lead. The U.S. government has decided that the lead content in printer's ink used before the 1980s (though they admit they're not sure exactly when) is dangerous to children, even though there's been no documented cases of lead poisoning concerning books and children.

I plan to keep reporting on this; for example, I'm curious how many people are aware of this law, what the local schools, libraries and booksellers are doing, and so on.
I've been noticing in recent days the number of "random" killings; murders, suicides,a lone gunman opening fire. Men killing their children and or wives, often before turning the gun on themselves, suicides, including a strange one in my city of Eugene, where a man shot and killed himself inside a movie theater while the movie was playing. The movie was Watchmen. A recent news item reported that statistically, the number of suicides are higher than usual since January. I'm not sure what this means, but it seems as if it means something. A part of myself is suspicious and can't help but think it has to do with mind control MKULTRA type of stuff; it's all wrapped up together at any rate, and certainly a signal...watching the signals...it seems that they just keep coming. . . you can read more at Octopus Confessional, where I have a few posts about specific reports.
I haven’t commented on the recent Stephenville, Texas UFO sightings because everyone else has. Nothing much I can add. But the recent firing of reporter Angelia Joiner has me wanting to comment.
Reporter Angelia Joiner of The Empire Tribune was fired. She was asked to “stand down” from reporting on the UFOs in Stephenville, after writing a series of articles on the sightings. And in particular, two articles on Ricky Sorrells, a repeat UFO witness and victim of apparent military harassment.
What The Empire Tribune told Joiner was that the UFO angle had been “played out,” and it was time to let it go. It was said some city council members found the whole thing embarrassing. For those reasons, it was suggested Joiner choose something else to write about. E-mails Joiner sent to a UFO group were also found too embarrassing; in good faith, Joiner gave two weeks notice. However, her computer was confiscated and she was told to leave the premises immediately.
One of Joiner’s articles, UFO Witness Claims Harassment Alien Surveillance of Stephenville & Sorrells, (The Empire Tribune, 2-3-08) discusses witness Ricky Sorrells alleged harassment by military authorities. In the article, Joiner writes that Sorrells:
... believes military officials have been harassing him by flying military aircraft over his property at low altitudes, at all hours of the day and night.
Sorrels says he’s seen the UFO four different times. The UFO was the length of “three or four football fields” Sorrells was contacted by someone from the military the day after an interview he gave with the Associated Press about his UFO sightings:
“He was sort of nice to me right off,” Sorrells said. “He asked to come and talk to me.”
Sorrells said he told the man that he needed time to think about it and then,
“He (the man) became really arrogant.”
The caller told Sorrells he wasn’t taking “no” for an answer and would be out to talk to him. Sorrells again tried to politely tell the man he did not wish to have company.
After that, Sorrells said the conversation became heated and he told the man not to cross his cattle guard.
Sorrells said the man responded with, “ Son, we have the same caliber weapons as you do but a lot more of them.”
Sorrells continued to experience more harassment with continued helicopter fly overs, bright lights shining into his home, and finding a threatening intruder on his property.
In this context:the number of witnesses to the event, Joiner’s termination, and the harassment of Sorrell, reports of military jets chasing after the UFO, it’s obvious there’s something more here than weather balloons or flares.
There’s also something I’ve been noticing the past couple of months; and I’m not the only flying saucer junkie to notice, not by any means. That’s the sheer number of UFO sightings lately, and not just small zippy lights in the sky, but huge craft not that far up above our heads. Are we in another UFO flap? Military weapons or some form of psy-op warfare?
There’s men in black type stuff, harassment, cover-ups, military involvement (both overt, as in the military jets seen going after the UFO, and covert, concerning Ricky Sorrells,) world wide media attention, photographic evidence, and, I suspect, some counter/disinformation going on as well. For example, on Linda Moulton Howe’s Earthfiles site, she has images of lights given to her by Steve Allen:
Steve said, “I have an amazing videotape to show you. The gentleman, David, who operated the camera brought a DVD to me at my office, I paid him some money and he said I could do whatever I wanted with the videotape. And I want you to have a copy, Linda.”
I acknowledge my paranoid side and so, will say this sounds like a set up to me. That’s not to suggest the images aren’t “real,” of course they are; they’re on video, and other witnesses have seen them. But I am of the opinion there’s some intentional manipulation going on by military factions -- or some human element -- in the midst of the Stephenville UFO sightings.
Whatever is going on - and there is something going on -- it’s getting pretty hot out there.
