YUFOLOGY: Chasing UFO's...

Tina Sena's post from July on Chasing UFOs.YUFOLOGY: Chasing UFO's...

And the quote of the day, from Tina, that I shall post all over the place:
"...searching/hunting/investigating UFO's isn't a job for a handful of "experts".

It's a job for every interested person on this planet.

Random things

Little postings here and there on my sphere o' blogs: UFO-Mary, Animal Forteana, Octopus Confessional, SkeptiWatch, Mothman Flutterings. I have a new Trickster's Realm column on last night's C2C. The segment with skeptic-debunker Edward, really dismal. What was with Noory's pandering? Anyway, I rant about all that on TR. Not sure when Tim will put it up but should be up Monday. This Sunday I'll be a guest on Strange Frequencies. Yes, I'll admit I'm nervous!

BBC News - Gay parades banned in Moscow for 100 years

Three female performance artists from Pussy Riot have been sentenced for three years in prison for offending the church and general public order of things. On the heels of that is this ruling:BBC News - Gay parades banned in Moscow for 100 years

The Moscow city government argues that the gay parade would risk causing public disorder and that most Muscovites do not support such an event.

The public order must be protected!
Scary...

BBC News - Pussy Riot members jailed for two years for hooliganism

Disturbing and disappointing news. Three members of Pussy Riot --- Maria Alyokhina, 24, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Yekaterina Samutsevich,   --- have been sentenced to two years in prison for their performance.BBC News - Pussy Riot members jailed for two years for hooliganism

The headline reads "...jailed for ... hooliganism" but the judge added that their "hooliganism" "crudely undermined social order."

Scary that anyone can be jailed for political protest that conflicts with the rule of the land. Equally frightening is the fact that one can be jailed for "offending" religions. In Pussy Riot's case, their protest was seen as "hooliganism" but not just; as the judge said, "...the act had been one of blasphemy, not politics."

The women have international supporters, including musicians like Madonna and Paul McCartney. But there are plenty of religious fanatics who think justice has been served:
One, Igor Kim, told the BBC News website from Moscow: "Shouting and screaming and spreading hate in Church is unacceptable and is contrary with Christian ethics."

Hardly need to point out the obvious that sending people to prison for three years for expressing their opinions is not "Christian ethics."

See Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' and 'Wizard of Oz' Together | FirstShowing.net

One of my favorite movies, one I've seen dozens of times. And one of my all time favorite groups (which I was fortunate enough to see in concert decades ago.) But nope, I tried this years ago, and just didn't synch up. Fun trying though. See Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' and 'Wizard of Oz' Together | FirstShowing.net

BBC News - Member of Russian band Pussy Riot falls ill at trial

Women on trial in Russia for protesting against Putin:BBC News - Member of Russian band Pussy Riot falls ill at trial
Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Mariya Alekhina and Yekaterina Samutsevich were taken into custody in February after performing a protest song against President Vladimir Putin at Moscow's Christ the Saviour Cathedral.

The song outraged the Russian Orthodox Church, which accused them of blasphemy. Supporters say the case reflects the state's growing intolerance of government opponents.
