"We're in the Money," -- Not

Those of us that write on things esoteric, on blogs, on e-zines, for publications, make very little, if any, money. We do it for... all kinds of reasons. Because we like to write, because we're creative and find writing a form of creative expression, because we like to share and communicate with others, because we've had our own experiences and are trying to figure them out, because we like to think and ponder and wonder, because... many more reasons I haven't thought of. But one thing is clear, we aren't in it for the money. I don't expect money. Well, I expect money in the sense I'm hopeful and have intent and am not projecting negativity, just being realistic. We don't, most of us, write because we think we're going to make money. It's safe to say most of us wouldn't turn money down if it came our way, but it's not expected. It's not about money. If it were, we wouldn't be doing this.

So, in that context, I THANK YOU to all the contributors here at Women Of Esoterica. I am constantly amazed at the fact that everyone here: Kithra, Lesley, Richelle Hawks, Danielle Lee, Anya, Deirdre, Karyn Dolan, Farah Yurdozu, Tina Sena, and Chris Holly contribute to this blog for FREE. Thank you, thank you.

Moving on. . . while most of us write for free, or very little, and of course welcome any money that may come our way, we do it for the reasons listed above, and more. Hopefully, if we're serious enough, or rather, sincere enough, in our intent, in our journey, in our research, some respect comes our way. Genuine discussions on all this stuff; Forteana, anomalous, UFOs, paranormal, whatever . . . takes place. Some even get to make an actual impact somewhere beyond the fringe. That's pretty huge.

We all know there are plenty of clown shoes in this field. Some of them are downright thieving, nasty, lying, dung filled clown shoes.  On the other end of the continuum are the sincere, the honest, the genuine researchers and people who have dedicated themselves to exploration in this realm, and, while they may not be paid in money, they are deserving of respect and care. You don't just kick 'em out because they haven't performed produced the right amount of stuff for your personal agenda, be it bank account or what. Especially if you don't pay them in the first place.

Karyn Dolan's Podcast Through the Keyhole

A general plug for Karyn Dolan's podcast. October 9th, her guest will be Stan Gordon, who, among other topics I'm sure, will discuss the stranger side of Bigfoot sightings. For more information, including archives of past shows, visit Karyn's site here.

(Karyn Dolan)
I'll be talking with Karyn Dolan on her "Through the Keyhole" podcast this Friday night, 5:00pm PST. I'm looking forward to it! I had a great time visiting with Karyn and Richard at the McMinnville UFO Festival last year (Richard was the main presenter) and it'll be fun to visit with Karyn again. Karyn is also a contributor to Women Of Esoterica.

Richard and Karyn Dolan at McMinnville!

Richard Dolan, me, Jim, and Karyn Dolan at Hotel Oregon in McMinnville.

I'm here in McMinnville, Oregon for the 9th Annual UFO Festival. Richard Dolan was last night's speaker, which was a fantastic presentation! More on that later. Jim and I met with Karyn and Richard last night, and had lunch with them today. Both are wonderful, warm, "real" people, very nice. When I met Karyn last night, it was the first time we'd met in person, and I literally felt as if we'd already known each other. Of course we have, in a way, communicating on-line, but it was very nice to meet in person. (They were here with their two children, who seemed as nice as their parents.)

I'll have more on Richard's presentation, and a great conversation with both of them at lunch today, on Binnall of America, on Monday.

Link to Richard Dolan's Fox Appearance

Here's the link to Richard Dolan's appearance on Fox yesterday morning. Thank you Karyn Dolan for sending the link. Karyn Dolan encourages people to let Fox know what they thought of Richard's segment; would viewers want to see more like this, what's their take on the whole thing, etc.

Esoteric Radio Women

Here I am at what I will call the BFFF Blog. Sure those Hollywood types can have their BFF’s, but here we will have the best female fortean friends. In reality, I don’t really know Richelle, but I have read her writings and enjoyed them. On the other hand, Regan and I have been internet pals for a couple years now.

I thought I would use to opportunity of this blog to bring to mind the few women who do paranormal internet radio shows.

First there is The Paranormal Women League. They have some interesting and fun shows about ghosts, ESP, Wicca and other paranormal related topics. It is hosted by Amy and Kristy, two fun and intelligent ladies.

There is also Eye to the Sky with wonderful hostess Dee Andrews. This show is mostly about ufo related phenomena and Dee nabs some really great guests, including, Richard Dolan, Nick Redfern, Peter Robbins and Steven Bassett.

The last show is Karyn Dolan’s Through the Keyhole. As Regan already mentioned I did an interview with Karyn for UFO Magazine which will be in this month and the Jan issue, so I know her a bit better than the other ladies and honestly I found her remarkable. The fact that she manages to do so much, so well, while home schooling her and Richard’s two children amazes me. My hat is off to her, I seem to manage very little with no children in comparison to her.

In a few months you will also find an interview with Dee Andrews in UFO Magazine. I hope to eventually get around to the paranormal women too, but I figure I should at least write a couple articles in between interviews.

I find it pretty sad that out of about 45 shows I have listed at Beyond the Dial, only 3 of them are hosted by women. However, even though I think the numbers are higher than regular radio for the most part all radio is dominated by men. I am thinking of my local “big” talk station and I do not believe there is one local show hosted by a woman and since Dr. Laura was replaced by Sean Hannity I can’t even think of a national syndicated show they run that is hosted by a woman. Pretty sad, isn’t it?

BTW, if I have missed one of the great gals that hosts a internet paranormal show, please let me know. The slight certainly would not be intentional.

Beyond the Dial in UFO Magazine: Karyn Dolan

This issue of UFO Magazine includes an interview by Lesley, who writes the Beyond the Dial column each month. The article is Karyn Dolan: A Ufologist's Best Friend.

Like many of us, Karyn has had an interest in the paranormal since childhood. (And yes, she is married to UFO researcher Richard Dolan.)

Karyn Dolan on BOA audio

Another fantastic interview from Binnall of America with Tim Binnall.

To paraphrase Karyn Dolan: "We don’t know what’s going on” which means we don’t know what’s important and what isn’t." To toss out data that bothers us is (as I harp on all the time) dishonest.

Kayn has her own podcast Through the Keyhole on the Paranormal Radio Network.

One of Karyn's areas is the desensitation of children to the grays. Very interesting on what she has to say about that.
