Lesley, this is just such a lovely find! You could write so much about this one book, it brings up so many questions, who put it together, why, how old does it appear to be, ... an adventure following the threads within!
It appears to have been started in the early 1930s. The latest thing I found was from about 1974, but there isn't much late stuff, most of it is 30s - 40s.
