Terrence McKenna: "Understanding the Universe"

"Dryad Materializing," James Rich acrylic on canvas
"You have to take seriously the notion that understanding the universe is your responsibility, because the only understanding of the universe that will be useful to you is your own understanding." ~ Terrence McKenna
The quote if from Daniel Moler's (for Reality Sandwich) article Machine Elves 101, or Why Terence McKenna Matters The article is, as Moler writes, a kind of "Terence for Dummies" includes several good quotes from McKenna.

I've been asked many times why I explore the things I do; why I blog and write about my UFO, anomalous and paranormal experiences, and generally, pursue the esoteric/Fortean realms. This Terrence McKenna quote resonates with me as explanation.

I would just say that "understanding the universe" is an overwhelmingly and very large assumption, and if misunderstood or misinterpreted, may sound ridiculously arrogant. I don't believe I or anyone can presume to understand the universe, as in "Oh! I got it all now!" moment. (Even when we think we've reached those moments of Satori, they soon fade, like a great and very important dream, and we're back to the mundane. . .) (And yet, if we've had those moments, they become a part of us, no matter how hidden away they may end up . . . )  But as a process, a journey for its sake, makes sense to me.

Anne Rice: "In the name of Christ. . . "

Richelle posted this news item on her FB page; I don't know if richelle plans to comment . . . I've long been an Anne Rice fan, and was not surprised, but a little bothered, when she went full tilt Christian. Now she's announced she's leaving Chrisitianity:
In the name of Christ, I refuse to be anti-gay. I refuse to be anti-feminist. I refuse to be anti-artificial birth control," the author wrote Wednesday on her Facebook page. "In the name of ... Christ, I quit Christianity and being Christian. Amen."

Yet she is still a Chrisitan, she hasn't left Christianity. Rice has left the Catholic Church, and doesn't align herself with a specific denomination:
Although no longer part of any denomination, she remains a believer and continues to read theology and post Biblical passages on her Facebook page. She has no immediate plans to write about her leaving the church and will continue with her metaphysical fiction series, "Songs of the Seraphim."
I'm confused, a bit, but I'm not a Christian.

Art Cards on ETSY

The Ghost Sheep of France, no.1 in series, mixed media on 3x5 card stock

Inspired by Richelle Hawks, who sells her handmade cards and jewelry on ETSY, I thought I'd give it a try as well. I used to sell vintage books on ebay and amazon.com (including a self-published book on Bigfoot!) I'm finding I have literally hundreds of books in the back room; no organization at all. I'm getting there. So on my Venusian23 shop on Etsy you'll find books and original art cards.
http://www.etsy.com/shop/venusian23

The art card (ACEO) shown is the first in a series. Other series to come:
  • Octopus Confessional Series
  • Episodes From The Journey Of The Orange Orb
  • Haunted Visits

That's what I have planned so far, but I expect to have more soon.

I like Etsy over eBay and amazon because it seems more personal and allows for individual and unique items; a nice place for artists who do their own self-expressive thing and less commercial and chaotic than eBay, etc.

Vintage Materials, Handmade Jewelry and Original Art by Richelle Hawks

WOE contributor Richelle Hawks, aside from being an outstanding writer of esoterica, makes jewelry using vintage beads and other materials. You can find her work on Etsy.

I told Richelle not only is her jewelry unique and lovely (so many items I want!) but so are her descriptions, which are like little poems.

I stole this image from her Etsy site: The Face on Mars Red Hemp Necklace, shown here.

Richelle also offers original art work, handmade cards, (ACEO or "Art Cards, Editions and Originals")  like this one titled Mercy of the Deceived--Decameron Series, No.2.

New Columns at BoA

Explore the wonders of Binnall of America! Podcasts, forum, and lots of great columns.

My new TR should be up sometime today. This week's article is about the parallels between my orange orb sighting in the 1980s, and the 'Dark Presence' UFO Hunters episode that explored orange (and other colors) orb sightings. These are not "Chinese lanterns," or spirit orbs.

Other items include Richelle Hawks' Medusa's Ladder column; this week Richelle writes about purging of the bookmarks:
Weeding the Bookmarks: Recommended Sites, Essays, and Videos

I've never been good about deleting old emails, files, pictures, bookmarks or anything until it gets to some kind of unholy critical mass, then I purge like crazy. It's getting to be that time with my bookmarks, so I've been going through things clicking on things I haven't seen in years. I've deleted a lot, but rediscovered some things that I put aside to read later, and found some real gems; many are esoteric related, so I thought I'd share some of my favorites.

Below is an eclectic selection of recommended reading and viewing from my forgotten and neglected bookmarks.
Funny Richelle mentions cleaning up bookmarks and emails; I have the same problem, and just a couple of days ago did the same thing with my bookmarks, managing to delete some important ones, like the access link to UFO Mystic. That's what happens when I try to get organized.

Tina Sena, at her Esotericana column, wants to know: Is the Grim Reaper an Extraterrestrial? Something about that; we call the Grim Reaper 'death' but as someone pointed out to me the other day, the GR doesn't kill people, he just takes them away. According to Wikipedia, in some systems the GR is a guide, leading the human away from this mortal life, in others, he causes death.

BIG opportunity fell in my lap today- Was asked to be radio host on a national show!

Just got approached to be a host for a national radio program but I would have to pony up 1/2 the production fees to do it- it's actually a very reasonable $40 to $45 a week if you are a sponsor, any takers? Contact me at: anyaisachannel@gmail.com - if you are an entrepreneur interested in getting a sponsor plug on the first psychic radio channel on iTunes with over 40,000 followers on Twitter alone, let me know!

"We're in the Money," -- Not

Those of us that write on things esoteric, on blogs, on e-zines, for publications, make very little, if any, money. We do it for... all kinds of reasons. Because we like to write, because we're creative and find writing a form of creative expression, because we like to share and communicate with others, because we've had our own experiences and are trying to figure them out, because we like to think and ponder and wonder, because... many more reasons I haven't thought of. But one thing is clear, we aren't in it for the money. I don't expect money. Well, I expect money in the sense I'm hopeful and have intent and am not projecting negativity, just being realistic. We don't, most of us, write because we think we're going to make money. It's safe to say most of us wouldn't turn money down if it came our way, but it's not expected. It's not about money. If it were, we wouldn't be doing this.

So, in that context, I THANK YOU to all the contributors here at Women Of Esoterica. I am constantly amazed at the fact that everyone here: Kithra, Lesley, Richelle Hawks, Danielle Lee, Anya, Deirdre, Karyn Dolan, Farah Yurdozu, Tina Sena, and Chris Holly contribute to this blog for FREE. Thank you, thank you.

Moving on. . . while most of us write for free, or very little, and of course welcome any money that may come our way, we do it for the reasons listed above, and more. Hopefully, if we're serious enough, or rather, sincere enough, in our intent, in our journey, in our research, some respect comes our way. Genuine discussions on all this stuff; Forteana, anomalous, UFOs, paranormal, whatever . . . takes place. Some even get to make an actual impact somewhere beyond the fringe. That's pretty huge.

We all know there are plenty of clown shoes in this field. Some of them are downright thieving, nasty, lying, dung filled clown shoes.  On the other end of the continuum are the sincere, the honest, the genuine researchers and people who have dedicated themselves to exploration in this realm, and, while they may not be paid in money, they are deserving of respect and care. You don't just kick 'em out because they haven't performed produced the right amount of stuff for your personal agenda, be it bank account or what. Especially if you don't pay them in the first place.

New Trickster's Realm: "Twilight Language: Cold War Inklings?"

My new Trickster's Realm is up at Binnall of America: Twilight Language: Cold War Inklings?" about the numerous Russian connections popping up in the culture stream.

Politics and entertainment (I know, what's the difference) merged when Vice President Joe Biden appeared on the Jay Leno show. Biden joined Leno in a comedy sketch and later, they discussed the busted Russian spy ring. Leno showed a photo of one of the alleged spies, Anna Chapman, who's been described as "sultry" by every talking head and newspaper it seems. Leno showed a photo of alleged spy Chapman and asked: "Do we have any spies that hot?" to which Biden, a frustrated comedian, said: "Let me be clear. It was not my idea to send her back."

One element I could have added but didn't think of: the new movie SALT, with Angelina Jolie. I haven't seen the movie but here is another example of a "sultry" sexy female spy and a Russian connection. Is Jolie's character a good spy or a bad (Russian) spy?

Things are not what they seem in these culture episodes; politicians as thwarted comedians, Russian spies as citizens, Russian lovers/actresses/entertainers, betrayals, non-Russians appearing as Russians . . . is the culture missing the Cold War?

The Ghost Divas

Meet the Ghost Divas:
Tonya and Tammy met while Tonya was investigating Tammy's home in Enid, Oklahoma. They instantly became friends. A few years later. The cable network TLC produced a then-new TV pilot titled "America's Ghost Hunters". This was way before all the TV shows being produced today. During the show, we both were pretty verbal about what we looked like on the show. We were also very verbal about not being "coached" into doing or saying things we felt were dishonest. We were going to be on National TV and did not want to come across as "screaming girls" or anything like that. The camera men and crew literally deemed us "The Ghost Divas" and well, we adopted it.
A lot more about the Divas on Strange State.

French Freemasons

We all want to be special in some way. Whether it concerns finding something fulfilling to do in this life, or just getting your name mentioned in an article. Whatever the motivation, people are mortal and knowing you're going to die inspires us all to achieve one thing that will ensure that we are never forgotten.

It's no different with people who are born and bred to be better than everyone else. Aristocrats, Politicians who are descendants of greater people of antiquity and celebrities who come from a long line of celebrities. They are the modern equivalent of an ancient Pantheon of (g)ods and those of us who eat, drink and pray on tabloids are their minions.

To put it simply, rich people are usually powerful. But they are usually also really dumb.

Case in point, the recent revelation that some French Aristocrats allowed themselves to be duped into believing Freemasons were thwarting their efforts to save the world! Yes, you heard it right: Freemasons...world saving. Thwarted. French.

The de Vedrines are not, nor have they ever been your typical French family. In 2001 the de Vedrines family went into hiding. Eleven members became recluses and what could have been just a case of removing ones self from the noise of Society, became a downward spiral of abuse and brainwashing.

A con man by the name of Thierry Tilly managed to convince the family that there was a plot against them, by Freemasons nonetheless. The family's only salvation was to discover a set of numbers to a safety deposit box that might or might not have housed a treasure...a key to their salvation.

How the family was even convinced of this lunacy is the first thing a person would think when reading about this case, but something else has to be asked as well: What is it about old money families and their adherence to the occult? Why would well-educated rich people believe such lunacy?

To fully understand where the naivete comes from, we have to consider that a lot of these well-to-do families are programmed for generations to believe they are from ancient royal blood. Most of the time their ancestors are descendants of gods or messiahs. For example, the Merovingian Dynasty believed they were the descendants of a union with a Sea-dwelling entity.

The de Vedrines believed they were (somehow) linked to a French version of the Knights Templar called "L'Equilibre du Monde". A group that only comes into power when the world as we know it is in danger. A man by the name of Jacques Gonzalez was the Grand Master of all that stupidity.

Mind you, we aren't talking about some backwoods hicks falling on their knees and worshiping a charismatic leader who promises salvation in the form of a shooting star. We aren't talking about ancient peoples dancing around a campfire, invoking invisible beings for the blessings of rain and a good harvest.

We are talking about people who should know better. People who, despite their lot in life (because money does not equal happiness), should have been able to see the shit through the shinola. I am not blaming the de Vedrines for being victimized. On the contrary, I am attacking the societal view that being rich somehow makes you extra special and higher on the evolutionary ladder than everyone else.

Too many old money families believe in nonsense. It gives them an advantage over the rest of us. They want to believe they come from liaisons with (g)ods, sea monsters and aliens because it makes them better than human. Better than us.

For the rest of us, the defining oddities in this entire case is the mention of Freemasons. There is a belief in France that the Masons run most of the popular real estate ventures in the country. Why? Is there any truth to this belief?

In the end, a rich Aristocratic family was duped and it all revolved around something straight out of an Indiana Jones movie or, as Vanity Fair aptly put it, " A Dan Brown novel." The de Vedrines made it out alive, but one thing still remains...  why did they fall for it?

Are the little people of the world  (judging dumb rich people) the ones who can see the forest from the trees, or is it the other way around?

David Jacobs Plants False Suggestion Re: MPD in Emma Woods

Why hasn't Jacobs been -- I don't know, arrested, called up on ethics charges, something? And why is the UFO community still oddly silent (save for a few, like Vaeni for example) on this?

New Age Clown Fish Dream

Wonderful dream last night in a kind of goofy way. There is much more to this dream that goes along with what I posted about awhile ago on Snarly Skepticism, and maybe I'll post about that but for now, I'll just share this one part:

I'm some kind of psychic/healer/medium and am hired by a family to heal their fish; a clown fish. The clown fish is beautiful, but much larger than clown fish in waking life. This dream clown fish is about two feet long, almost eel like, but very friendly and beautiful. The orange color, all the colors, just lovely. But the clown fish is sick, so I'm hired to come and help.

The family is a blended family and a large one. Mostly Caucasian American and Indians, Hindu and Buddhist.

I go into the room where the fish is. There are two tanks. One on a shelf, the other tank on a shelf higher and off to the left a bit. A tube connects the two. After looking at the fish I know the fish will most likely be all right, though it's sick now, but the rest is up to the family, I tell them. They really love this fish. I tell them the fish has a "Forty seventy" chance of living (I realize when I woke up you can't have a "forty seventy" but that's what was said in the dream) and that, instead of being sad that there's a seventy percent chance it might die, be grateful and concentrate on the forty percent that he'll live.

I show them how to sit with the fish every day, for at least ten minutes a day, and just concentrate on the fish being well. Send it love, literally, white light from your heart to the fish, and back again. Everyone in the family has to do this, and even when away from the fish, think about the fish and send it love and light.

I tell them it's important to keep the tanks clean, make sure the water is fresh and running and let the fish go back and forth between tanks. The fish follows the tube between tanks.  And indeed, as we're there in the room and I'm talking, the fish is happier and brighter and swimming back and forth between tanks.

I think this dream has something to do with the subconscious and the whole circus discussion surrounding UFO experiences. The clown fish, aside from the name, is orange (orange orb.) The clown fish was not just a happy go lucky rather silly fish; it was actually very beautiful and intelligent, as well as happy.

New WOE Look

Okay, sigh, does anyone else think this new template here for WOE looks like an soft-core porn catalog?

From Lesley: New Grey Matters on BoA

Lesley's new Grey Matters is up at BoA: Ufology: It Isn't Rocket Science.

At one time, we only had to deal with the debunkers. Now, we have not only them, but everyone in Ufology that happens to have a different theory.
I agree with Lesley; with friends like this who needs enemies?

As Lesley says, there are many theories as to the true nature of UFOs, what their origins are, their purpose, and so on. And maybe all those theories, or a good number of them, are true. . . why why why do so many researchers stick to just one theory and reject all others?

Anyway, another good piece from Lesley!

Dr. Evil Files: "Here Come Drugs To Combat The Scrourge of Dykes"

Thanks to Lesley at The Debris Field for this link. On piglipstick, the following scary as all fucking shit news item about Dr. Maria New: "Here Come Drugs To Combat The Scrourge of Dykes"

Dr. New is experimenting with drugs to be used on the fetus:
"Dr. Maria New has a new strategy for treating unborn fetuses: the use of a potentially dangerous steroid aimed at preventing a rare congenital disorder that affects the adrenal gland, potentially consigning the future child to a lifetime regime of drugs.
It also prevents "some of the symptoms of [this disorder] in girls, namely ambiguous genitalia. . . Dr. New offers pregnant women dexamethasone, a risky steroid aimed at female fetuses that may have this disorder . . . Dr. New is also exploring the use of dexmethasone's effects on future fetuses' desires to explore "male careers" or have disinterest in becoming mothers.
